GuideSpark (2014-2016, 2017, 2018)

Asset Production, Graphic Design, Motion Graphic Design, Video Editing and Production, Writing

In the late summer of 2014, I was hired at GuideSpark as a Content Production Specialist under contract, which meant that I had to put together videos using in-house templates for our clients on a variety of topics, mostly centering around the topic of employee benefits and perks. I was so good and efficient at the job that they would hire me back full-time in the spring of 2015 in the position of associate motion graphics designer. My responsibilities were largely the same -- produce animated video content for our clients -- but now I was tasked with delivering more bespoke content for our very demanding customers.

At the end of 2015, I was promoted and became a representative for the Design team, fielding any complaints about the company's proprietary back-end and workflows and taking them to the Engineering team, helping brainstorm ways on how to make our internal processes more efficient and streamlined. I also studied JavaScript on my own time in order to create a couple of scripts to automate some common After Effects processes. Through these efforts, we were able to cut video delivery time by 20%, or roughly 6-10 hours of development time per video.

In November of 2016, at the end of the busy season that year, I was one of many employees to be let go as part of a company reorganization. However, as I was familiar with the product and the processes of the design team already, I was brought back on as a contractor during the peak seasons of 2017 and 2018.
